The Benefits of Toners & How to Use Them
Historically, when cleansers used ingredients like mineral oil, toners were mainly used to remove the film left behind from cleansing and balance out the pH of the skin. Many toners had alcohols and astringent ingredients in them to help strip the skin. In the more recent past, many estheticians have stopped recommending toners to their clients because cleansers have vastly improved formulations and do not alter the pH of the skin. Because of this change, toners have evolved and become far more effective at helping skin remain youthful.
Glo Skin Beauty toners are extremely beneficial for skin because they assist in evening out the porosity of the skin, giving serum and moisturizer a smoother, more even application. Depending on which toner is chosen, skin will be soothed, retexturized, or purified.
The first three toners are focused on skin types. The final four are part of our solution sets, which can either replace or be used in conjunction with the recommended skin type toner.
Toner for Oily Skin
Each toner has ingredients to target a specific skin type or concern. Most popular is Purifying Mist for oily skin. It contains ingredients that are anti-microbial and healing from Bisabolol, softening and smoothing from Blue Agave, and antibacterial from Totarol™.Lightly mist face after cleansing to prep skin for serums and moisturizers. Can also be used after applying makeup as a setting spray or throughout the day to refresh skin.
Toner for Combination Skin
Balancing Mist is the newest toner to our regimens and is the perfect way to combat oily T-zones and dry cheeks that many combination skin clients experience. Matmarine™ and Vine-Eco provide excellent mattifying and astringent benefits, while AcquaCell™ and Hylauronic Acid help fight surface dehydration and provide intense hydration. Lightly mist face after cleansing to prep skin for serums and moisturizers. Can also be used after applying makeup as a setting spray or throughout the day to refresh skin.
Toner for Dry Skin
Conditioning Mist is a light, hydrating toner for dry skin. Hyaluronic Acid, Epigallocatechin Gallate (EGCG) and Rose Hip Seed Oil are blended into this formula to hydrate skin, deliver antioxidants, and preserve skin elasticity. Lightly mist face after cleansing to prep skin for serums and moisturizers. Can also be used after applying makeup as a setting spray or throughout the day to refresh skin.
Toner for Ageless Skin
HA-Revive Hyaluronic Mist, is the ideal toner for anyone who suffers from dehydrated or aging skin. Infused with Papyrus Leaf Stem Cell, Sodium Hyaluronate and Coconut Water, this lightweight mist provides deep hydration. The plant stem cell, Papyrus Leaf has been shown in clinical studies to have a 33% increase in water retention within 30 minutes of application! HA-Revive Hyaluronic Mist can be used by all skin types, including oily.
Toner for Smooth Skin
To smooth skin, we recommend Glycolic Resurfacing Toner. A combination of 7% Glycolic Acid, Alpha Arbutin and Aloe Vera make this a powerful toner with exfoliation and brightening properties.
Toner for Clear Skin
Clear Complexion Pads have a combination of Salicylic Acid and Sodium Chlorite to work synergistically to prevent the growth of acne-causing bacteria. They are a great option for anyone struggling with breakouts that live an active lifestyle. Clear Complexion Pads are a great product to keep in a gym bag to help prevent breakouts caused by not cleansing skin immediately after a workout. Just smooth pad over the skin and apply SPF.
Toner for Sensitive Skin
Calming Flower Mist is the toner recommended for sensitive or sensitized skin. Neroli Flower Oil, Rose Flower Water and Gotu Kola Extract are infused in this light mist to help strengthen the epidermal barrier and calm inflammation. You can spritz your skin after cleansing or throughout the day to refresh the skin.
No matter which toner is chosen, they all have multiple benefits to help give a youthful appearance to skin. Each has properties to prep skin for a serum and moisturizer application along with antioxidants to prevent signs of aging caused by free radicals.
